Research Consent Form
Neural Interface Research Program
Please read this Research Consent Form carefully before agreeing to participate in our research program. This is separate from your subscription agreement - you can use the BrainPills service without participating in research.
1. Purpose of Research
The BrainPills Neural Interface Research Program collects data to advance brain-computer interface technology. Our research goals include:
- Improving neural pattern recognition accuracy
- Developing more responsive AI assistance
- Understanding how humans interact with neural interfaces
- Publishing findings to advance the field of neurotechnology
2. What Participation Involves
2.1 Data Collection
When you participate in research, we collect the following data during your neural interface sessions:
- Neural Patterns: EEG-based signals indicating your brain's response patterns
- Response Times: How quickly your neural interface responds to queries
- Usage Metrics: Features used, session duration, interaction frequency
- Outcome Data: Successful responses, error rates, completion rates
- Optional Feedback: Surveys, ratings, and written comments about your experience
2.2 Data Collection Methods
All data is collected through non-invasive, external methods:
- Wearable EEG headset (no surgery required)
- Software analytics during your sessions
- Optional post-session surveys
2.3 Time Commitment
Research data is collected passively during your regular use of the neural interface. Additional time commitment is minimal - optional surveys take approximately 5 minutes per month.
3. Risks and Benefits
3.1 Potential Risks
The neural interface technology is non-invasive and generally considered low-risk. Some participants may experience:
- Mild Discomfort: Some users report mild headaches during initial adaptation periods (typically resolves within 7 days)
- Eye Strain: Minor eye fatigue from visual feedback elements
- Fatigue: Mental fatigue from extended sessions (recommended: take breaks every 2 hours)
These symptoms are temporary and typically resolve with continued use.
3.2 Potential Benefits
Participants may experience:
- Improved Focus: Many users report enhanced concentration
- Enhanced Creativity: Some users report increased creative thinking
- Faster Information Processing: Improved pattern recognition abilities
- Research Contribution: Helping advance neurotechnology
Note: Results vary significantly by individual. We do not guarantee specific outcomes.
3.3 No Guarantee of Results
This is experimental research. Your experience may differ from other participants. We cannot predict individual outcomes.
4. Your Rights
4.1 Voluntary Participation
Participation in research is completely voluntary. Your subscription to the neural interface service is separate from research participation.
4.2 Right to Withdraw
You may withdraw from the research program at any time by:
- Email: orders@brainpills.ai
- Contacting customer support
Withdrawing from research does not affect your access to the neural interface service.
4.3 Right to Delete Data
You may request deletion of your neural research data at any time. To make this request, contact orders@brainpills.ai. Note:
- We will delete your data within 30 days
- Data already published in anonymized form cannot be recalled
- Aggregated research data may retain your contribution in anonymous form
4.4 Right to Ask Questions
You have the right to ask questions about the research at any time. Contact orders@brainpills.ai.
5. Data Use and Storage
5.1 Anonymization
All neural data is anonymized before analysis. We remove:
- Names and email addresses
- Account identifiers
- Timestamps (replaced with randomized offsets)
- Any other identifying information
5.2 Storage
- Anonymized data is stored on encrypted servers
- Data is retained indefinitely unless you request deletion
- Access is limited to authorized research personnel
5.3 Research Use
Anonymized data may be used for:
- Internal analysis and improvement
- Academic publications in journals and conferences
- Presentations at research conferences
- Open-source contributions to the research community
5.4 No Commercial Use
We do not sell anonymized research data to third parties. Data is used only for academic research and improving our service.
6. Data Sharing
6.1 What We Share
When we share research, it is:
- Always anonymized
- Aggregated with other participants
- Never individually identifying
6.2 What We Do NOT Share
- Your name or identity
- Your email or contact information
- Your individual neural patterns
- Your account details
- Any data that could identify you
6.3 Third-Party Sharing
Research data may be shared with:
- Academic institutions for research purposes
- Peer-reviewed journals for publication
- Research conferences
